Moulin Bistro - Wednesday, October 21st

The Pêche Melba…

...or Peach Melba, is one of the most famous and beloved desserts in the world. While many people are familiar with the delectable dessert, few know the history behind it. It all started with a certain French chef and his friendship with a famous opera singer in the 1890s and resulted in a timeless dessert that has continued to grace menus for more than a century.

When Moulin’s Executive Chef Jeoffrey Offer considered event ideas for our local chapter of Les Dames d’Escoffier, he thought it would be appropriate to focus the theme on the famous French chef for whom our group is named - Auguste Escoffier. Not only is Chef Escoffier one of the most important leaders in the development of modern French cuisine, he is also Chef Offer’s greatest culinary influence, and he is enthusiastic to entertain you with tastes and tales of Escoffier.

Our Event…

Moulin invites you to an evening of history, storytelling and tasting. Our event will begin with Champagne and networking, followed by Chef Jeoffrey telling us the story behind Chef Escoffier’s creation of the Peach Melba and other facts about the legendary chef’s contribution to French cuisine. And of course, we will all enjoy our own servings of Peach Melba just as guests at the Savoy Hotel in London did when it was served for the first time in 1893. There may be a few additional surprises in store so we hope you can attend.
