“TO LIVE AND DINE IN LA”
SATURDAY, JUNE 6 at 10 AM
Los Angeles Central Library
630 West 5th Street, Los Angeles, CA
(213) 228-7500
Join us for a private viewing of the new exhibit, “To Live and Dine in LA,” produced by the Library Foundation of Los Angeles, on view in the first floor gallery of Central Library. The two-room space showcases highlights from the 9,000-piece collection of menus the library owns. We will also visit the Science Department which houses the library’s 60,000 item cookbook collection (Dewey deemed cooking chemistry.) A specially-curated selection of these books will be on display for us to view.
Also planned is a tour of the art and architecture and murals and sculptures in the original building which opened in 1926 and modern chandeliers and sculptures in the Tom Bradley Wing which opened in 1993.
Parking is $1 in the library parking lot if you have an LAPL library card. Yes! You can get a card for free that day.
The cost is $15 per person which goes to our chapter for 2015 fundraising. You can pre-pay online or pay at the door.
After our tour you are invited to join many of us for an optional lunch or afternoon tea at the historic Biltmore Hotel, 506 South Grand Ave, walking distance from the Library. This 1923 beaux arts-inspired legendary hotel has welcomed celebrities, presidents and dignitaries for 90 years, offering unrivaled historic grandeur and modern luxury in the heart of downtown Los Angeles. Lunch or tea will be on you.
